Conservation at ZAMBI

Purpose & Advocacy

ZAMBI will aspire to foster educated advocates and champions for the organisation and animal and wildlife conservation.

Through advocacy, we will endeavour to connect our visitors to nature meaningfully.

ZAMBI is a unique habitat that creates a sense of place that we hope will inspire others to learn and appreciate the importance of preserving nature. Our landscape beautifully exhibits native and exotic trees, plants, and freshwater ecosystems.

Our animal habitats are enriching and diverse, allowing visitors to appreciate all the animals up close and make lasting connections.

Przewalski’s horse conservation project at ZAMBI Wildlife Retreat

Current Project: Przewalski’s Horses

Our current conservation focus is the Przewalski’s horse project, supporting a herd relocated from Fernhill to ZAMBI. This project forms part of an important global effort to protect a species once extinct in the wild and now carefully managed through conservation programs.

Learn more about their story, our documentary in progress, and how you can support this ongoing work on the Przewalski’s Horse page.

Education

ZAMBI will endeavour to educate our visitors with conservation messages through vibrant educational signage, presentations, keeper talks and animal encounters/experiences.

We will ask our visitors to consider participating in conservation efforts that our organisation supports through memberships and donations.

As a conservation advocate, ZAMBI will spread awareness of preserving nature through our own media platforms, where we will post relevant content regularly.

Support

Through direct efforts, ZAMBI will work with the Zoological Association of Australia (ZAA) to assist in Endangered Species Conservation. This may involve contributing to the Species Management Population Program and collaborating with other organisations.

As a ZAA Regional Member, ZAMBI will be supporting the following conservation organisations:
